A source for news and guidance on virtually every aspect of attorney conduct and legal ethics. The Manual is organized into four main sections: the Practice Guides, Ethics Rules, Current Reports, and Ethics Opinions. Contains the full text of every ABA ethics opinion issued from 1986 onward, digests of state and local ethics opinions from 1986 to the present, and links to state Web sites for the full text of state ethics rules and opinions.

Source for theory and research in international affairs. CIAO publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 on that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, and proceedings from conferences.

HeinOnline
Hein OnLine is an ever-expanding, image-based collection of legal materials and law reviews. It provides access to a growing collection of legal periodicals (over 1,000 titles, in most cases beginning with the first issue of each journal); a library of legal classics (more than 1,000 volumes); full reprints of the English Reports (1220-1865); the Federal Register (1936-current); the Code of Federal Regulations (1938-1983); the U.S. Statutes at Large (1789-2004); U.S. Reports (1754-2005) and U.S. Reports Slip Opinions (2002-current); an extensive Treaties and Agreements Library; a U.S. Federal Legislative History Library; and much more. All material is in image-based PDF format and is full-text searchable. As of April 2007, nearly 27 million pages were available in the HeinOnline database.

Index to Legal Periodicals (Wilson)
The Index to Legal Periodicals consists of two databases:

a. Index to Legal Periodicals Full Text (1982 - ) provides citations to more than 850 legal periodicals including legal journals, law reviews, yearbooks, institutes, statutes, bar association publications, university publications, and government publications. ILP Full Text also has full text of articles from more than 200 select periodicals, as far back as 1994, and links to full-text articles available elsewhere.

b. Index to Legal Periodicals Retrospective provides citations from print editions of the Index to Legal Periodicals published between 1908-1981.

International Commentary on Evidence
International Commentary on Evidence is a peer-reviewed journal on evidence law and theory.

International Trade Reporter - Current Reports (BNA)
Weekly reports containing current information on all major developments affecting U.S. trade, international business, and U.S. trading partners. Monitors activities of the International Trade Commission, Departments of State, Treasury, and Commerce, World Trade Organization, and European Union. Reports on new U.S. laws and agency actions likely to have an impact on imports and exports. Covers significant court and administrative rulings involving U.S. trade law, including opinions of the U.S. Court of International Trade, International Trade Administration, and International Trade Commission. Tracks international treaty negotiations and agreements.

Intellectual Property Library* (BNA)
Provides the full text of all decisions reported in United States Patents Quarterly from 1929 to the present, combined with finding aids to facilitate the search process. Includes federal statutes and regulations on patent, copyright, and related matters. Incorporates the full text of the treatise, Patents & the Federal Circuit as well as the weekly Patent, Trademark and Copyright Journal.

Issues in Legal Scholarship (Berkeley Electronic Press)
Provides a forum for discussion of seminal articles and important issues in legal scholarship. The journal consists of a series of symposia that often begin by republishing a seminal article in the field.

Leadership Library ("Yellow Books")
The Leadership Directories (aka "Yellow Books") provide access to names, titles and addresses for people working in the public and private sectors. The directories include information about federal, regional, state and municipal agencies and representatives; associations and non-profits organizations; law firms, corporations and financial institutions; judicial and foreign representatives; and news media. Useful not only for contact information but also for job searching, understanding corporate structure, and identifying individuals' board memberships. Information can be downloaded into spreadsheets for use in a mail merge document.

Offers indexing for all major law reviews, legal newspapers, specialty law publications, bar association journals and thousands of law-related articles from general interest publications. Also includes the full text of selected journal articles in PDF format.

LexisNexis Congressional
Comprehensive access to information by and about the United States Congress, as well as United States legislative history. Includes legislation and public policy, statistical information including projections and analyses, federal regulations, voting and financial records for individual members as well as members of various congressional committees.

LexisNexis State Capital
Indexes legislative information from the fifty states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Coverage begins, generally, in 1991 and is current to the present legislative session.

LexisNexis Statistical
Allows users to search summaries of statistical publications from government and private sources, then link to the full-text of selected publications.

LLMC Digital
A digital archive of government documents and other out-of-copyright literature of interest to researchers in law and history, derived from the Law Library Microform Consortium's backfile of more than 90,000 volumes. The archive is currently divided into federal executive, judicial and legislative collections, each separately searchable in various ways, including full text. As volumes are transformed from microfiche into digital images, the archive will ultimately grow to encompass LLMC's entire backfile.

The Making of Modern Law
Provides access to over 22,000 legal treatises on US and British law published from 1800 through 1926. This service gives researchers access to critical legal history in ways not previously possible. It offers various retrieval and browsing options, including full-text searching on more than 10 million pages. Digital images of every page of every work can be viewed, printed and downloaded.

The Muslim World Journal of Human Rights is an academic forum dedicated to the pressing question of human rights in the Muslim world.

NBER National Bureau of Economic Research)
Offers working papers in PDF format covering diverse areas such as corporate finance, health and health care, international finance, trade and investment, labor, technology as well papers devoted to the historical development of the American economy. The National Bureau of Economic Research is a private, nonpartisan research organization dedicated to promoting a greater understanding of how the economy works. The Bureau concentrates on four types of empirical research: developing new statistical measurements, estimating quantitative models of economic behavior, assessing the effects of public policies on the U.S. economy, and projecting the effects of alternative policy proposals.

netLibrary
A collection of ebooks -- all full text books in electronic format that can be downloaded to your desktop or laptop computer for specified "loan periods." The collection can be searched for a specific by title, author, subject, or for words within the text.

RIA Checkpoint (RIA)
RIA Checkpoint is an electronic tax research service which provides access to primary tax law sources as well as editorial content and explanations of tax law. It includes access to the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations, Court cases, IRS rulings, and proposed legislation. It also includes a citator which provides information about subsequent citations of authority.

Securities Regulation and Law Report (BNA)
Weekly reports covering federal and state developments in the regulation of securities and futures trading and accounting, with objective coverage of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodities Futures Trading Commission, industry, courts, and Congress.

Social Science Research Network (SSRN)
Devoted to the rapid worldwide dissemination of social science research and is composed of a number of specialized research networks in law and the social sciences. SSRN's Legal Scholarship Network consists of an abstracts database and an electronic paper collection containing thousands of downloadable full text documents in PDF format.

Theoretical Inquiries in Law (Berkeley Electronic Press)
The journal publishes articles that are presented at international conferences organized by the Cegla Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Law of the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law. The Journal specializes in the application to legal problems of insights developed in other disciplines, such as moral and political theory, epistemology, social sciences, economics and game theory, probability theory, and cognitive psychology.

U.S. Law Week (BNA)
USLW’s editors select and summarize federal and state court and administrative cases that establish new precedents, address new statutes, contribute to emerging legal doctrines, tackle current controversies, or further Circuit splits. The service also tracks all cases brought before the U.S. Supreme Court from the initial docketing of the case until its conclusion. USLW publishes orders in pending cases, orders granting or denying review, the schedule for argument, excerpts of oral arguments, and full-text opinions.

  • Legal Information Institute (Cornell): Academic legal portal. The majority of the material on the site is organized to get you directly to either primary legal resources - cases, codes, state and federal agency information, international materials – or to reputable secondary legal resources.
  • Findlaw: Comprehensive legal research web site, providing legal resources for legal professionals, businesses, students and individuals.
  • Hiero Gamos: A site with links to foreign states governmental bodies and laws available on a wide variety of topics. Links are available to law schools, firms, legal associations and discussion groups for each nation.
  • Internet Law Library: Provides links to a large number of legal resources relating to American (federal and state) and foreign laws.
  • Juris: The Legal Education Network
  • LLRX Court Rules, Forms & Dockets: Links to over 1,400 sources for state and federal court rules, forms and dockets.
  • Thomas: federal legislative information, including bill texts and resolutions. This site features full-text searchable legislation and the Congressional Record from the 101st Congress forward, the Congressional Record Index, bill summaries, the full text of the U.S. Constitution, and how our laws are made.
  • Washlaw: Comprehensive academic legal portal, which includes legal discussion lists, legal directories, DocLaw (Federal law and government documents) and ForIntLaw (foreign, international and United Nations legal materials).

  • ALA Government Documents Round Table
    Index site run by the ALA Government Documents Round Table-- International Documents Task. It includes hypertext links for both international organizations and foreign governments. The government links, arranged alphabetically by state, are extensive with direct links into governmental subdivisions and notes when the link is to an unofficial source.
  • American Society of International Law
    American Society of International Law's homepage provides information on the activities of the organization. It also has an excellent index and abstract of International and Foreign Law index sites.
  • Australasian Legal Information Institute
    Australasian Legal Information Institute's Index site is organized similar to Findlaw and focuses primarily on legal materials from Asian and Pacific countries. Can be accessed by country or subject area.
  • Avalon Project
    Yale’s Avalon Project is an attempt to create a digital document retrieval cite for primary source material relevant to law, history, economics, politics; diplomacy and government. The documents are arranged primarily by date and then by subject or title within the time period. The documents include hypertext links to other documents within the site.
  • Canadian Legal Information Institute
    The Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII) is a not-for-profit organization initiated by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. CanLII's goal is to make primary sources of Canadian law accessible for free on the Internet.
  • Coombsweb
    The Coombsweb is sponsored by the Australian National University and includes information on the following Pacific area nations: Indonesia, Tibet, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam. It also provides links to a number of related websites.
  • Council of Europe
    Official homepage of the Council of Europe, includes the history and an explanation or the organization. Also includes copies of its treaties and agreements. Has official press releases and newsletters from its various organs.
  • Country Studies Handbooks
    The Library of Congress' Federal Research Division’s Country Studies/Area Handbooks are available full text. Each study can be keyword searched. Information is as current as the publication date of the paper copy.
  • European Union
    EU official homepage it includes information on the organization and its bodies. Press releases, official documents, legal texts, consolidated laws, publications and statistics are among the items available on the site.
  • Fourth World Documentation Project
    Center for Indigenous Studies sponsors this site titled Fourth World Documentation Project. It focuses on the rights and activities of local indigenous peoples around the world. The material is organized in several ways: broad geographic divisions; organizations, UN documents, and Treaties and Agreements. The material is generally available in downloadable format.
  • Global Legal Information Network (GLIN)
    Global Legal Information Network (GLIN) a project of the LC Law Library is in two parts: one includes 50,000+ records of national legislation compiled from the official gazettes, in a keyword searchable database (combination of full text and summaries with index terms assigned by the LC Law Library); 2nd is an index to material available on other websites.
  • Guide to Foreign and International Legal Databases
    NYU Law School's comprehensive Foreign and International Law site. Arranged by Subject and Jurisdiction.
  • Guide to International Trade Law Sources on the Internet
    Marci Hoffman's Guide to International Trade Sources on the Internet is a comprehensive site with links to a wide variety of trade related material.
  • Hiero Gamos
    Hiero Gamos is an index site with links to foreign states governmental bodies, laws available on a wide variety of topics. Links are available to law schools, firms, legal associations and discussion groups for each nation. Published by Lex Mundi.
  • Inter-American Human Rights Database
    Center for Human Rights & Humanitarian Law Database includes information from and about the Inter-American Court of HR. Annual rpts (1970 -- ), case decisions and center publications are available full text.
  • International Court of Arbitration
    International Chamber of Commerce's International Court of Arbitration's homepage includes: rules of court; sample standard clauses for forms of arbritration; and arbitration and conciliation kits. It does not include any decisions.
  • International Court of Justice
    Official Homepage of ICJ it includes an extensive collection of materials: Charter, Statute of the Court; searchable database of Decisions; current Docket; Press releases and general.
  • International Law Commission
    Offical homepage for the International Law Commission it includes: annual reports, yearbooks, documents 1998- , sponsored actions (laws, agreements & conventions), guides to their work and activities.
  • Legal Information Institute
    Legal Information Institute from Cornell Law School. Provides a selective list of Internet addresses intended as a starting point for foreign and international research. Includes ICJ decisions, GATT & UN materials. Can be accessed by topic, geographic region or organization.
  • LLRX International Law Guides
  • National Constitutions
    This site maintained by the Constitutional Society has downloadable copies of numerous countries national constitutions, most with English translations available. Their homepage links to other material from this ultra right wing organization.
  • Organization of American States
    The OAS hompage includes Full Text versions of many OAS Resolutions, Directives, General Assembly Documents,etc. Also contains the OPAC for the OAS Library.
  • Russian and Eastern European Studies Resources
    A comprehensive index to electronic resources on the Balkans, Baltic States, Caucasus, Central Asia & Europe, CIS, Eastern Europe, NIS, Russian Federation and the former Soviet Union. Includes both primary and secondary materials searchable by language, country or subject matter.
  • Statewatch
    The State and Civil Liberties in the EU. This boolean searchable database of over 24K documents monitors: prisons, immigration, racism & fascism, activities of the European Court of Human Rights and other related topics.
  • Terrorism Research Center
    This site, sponsored by the Terrorism Research Center, tracks terrorism, counter terrorism and international crime. It includes full text reports, essays, governmental documents (US and foreign), group profiles and related information. It includes links to other related sites.
  • World Trade Organization
    Homepage for the WTO, it provides information on trade topics, including the status and documents related to dispute settlement under its auspieces. Material is available in full text downloadable format.
